Axis or Allies
Countries involved in World War 2
Axis countries:
Germany- Hitler wanted power over Germany to control Europe.
Italy - Mussolini supported Germany because he felt Himself and Hitler were the most influential Countries in Europe and the rest of Europe should revolve around them.
Japan - Emperor Hirohito of Japan wanted to to be supreme in Asia and rule both Asia and the Pacific Oceon. By forming allies together with Germany who was seen at the time was seen as one of the most powerful dictators, meant if Hitler would support Hirohito then he would also support Hitler and his fight in conquering Europe.
In 1939 Germany invaded Poland this is how World War 2 began!
Britain and France went into war with Germany to help Poland but it was too late as it had been taken over by the Nazi's. By the summer of 1940 Germany had conquered Holland Belgium, Denmark, and Norway and France who had no choice but to surrender. In 1941 the Commonwealth Countries Australia and Canada decided to help and support Britain as they were out numbered and the last country standing against Germany. Commonwealth countries are the countries which consist of the UK and countries which were previously part of the British Empire.
Allies with Britain - Countries against the Germans
France - France first faught alongside Britain to help defeat germany once they invaded into Poland. Unfortunately it was too late resulting in an German attack on france resulting in surrender.
USA - Part of the Commonwealth Countries
Russia - Hitler invaded Russia starving out the Soviet union forcing them to eat dogs. More than 1,000 tons of bombs were dropped on the city, but Stalin initially forbade any evacuation from the city, even for the children. The average life-expectancy of a Soviet private soldier during the battle of Stalingrad was just 24 hours. By the end of the siege of Russia, one million Soviet soldiers had died on the Stalingrad front resulting in Russia falling under German supevision. In spring 1944 a Soviet Invasion on Germany became a real possibility. Hitler suffered his greatest military setback of the war in the summer of 1944.
Australia - Part of the Commonwealth countries supported Britain.
Canada - Part of the Commonwealth countries Supported Britain.
New Zealand - Part of the Commonwealth countries supported Britain.
South Africa - Part of the Commonwealth countries supported Britain.
India - British India launched attack on Germany in 1939, the British Raj sent over two half million volunteer soldiers under British command against the Axis countries.
Soviet Union of China - The USA had loaned 500 million dollars to China resulting China in becomming the main ally for America against Japan. During Chinas war with the Axis country Japan, they were almost defeated, managing to push back and repel against two Japanese forces. The first atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima soon after. Three days later Stalin (Russia) declared war on Japan in support with China.
