Why?

Who?

When?

Neville Chamberlain announced to the nation that England were at war with Germany on 3rd September 1939. The war lasted 6 long years, finally drawing to an end on 8th May 1945 with a victory for the Allies.

Upon Hitlers rise to power, he ordered the invasion of several countries. Chamberlain met with Hitler in order to agree peace and avoid war. Hitler however had other ideas, continuing to invade countries. On September 1st 1939, Hitler invaded Poland, proving to be the last straw for Britain. Chamberlain gave the opportunity for Germany to remove troops from Poland. Evidently they failed to do this, resulting in the war.

Many countries were involved in World War 2.

The Axis consisted of Germany, Italy and Japan.

The Allies were Britain, France, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, India, China, Soviet Union (Russia) and United States of America.
