A BEGINNERS GUIDE TO WORLD WAR TWO
1935- Jewish people were no longer able to vote. They also had no rights to be German citizens and it was illegal for them to marry German people.
10th November 1938- Kristallnacht (Night of the Broken Glass). On this night thousands of Jewish homes and shops were broken into and ruined, aswell as thousands of synagogs being burned. Several Jewish people were arrested and sent to concetration camps.
3rd September 1939- World War Two began. By this time thousands of Jews had relocated or if not, being brutally mistreated. In countries Germany occupied, like Poland, Jewish people were either being massacred or made to live in secluded areas called Ghettos.
1941- Germany's secret service (SS Einsatzgruppen) was ordered to enter Russia (USSR) upon Germany's invasion to kill the Jewish people that lived there. They were cruelly shot or poisioned by carbon monoxide in gas vans.
July 1941-The Nazi leader (Hermann Goering) ordered for a plan to be constructed for a 'Final Solution' to abolish the Jewish people.
January 1942- A plan to destroy eleven millions Jews was agreed. Already functioning concentration camps were fitted with gas chambers. The Jewish people were worked to death, if they were healthy, or gassed if not.
June 1942- Jewish people were ordered to wear the Star of David as a way of labelling. It was to be worn in a visible place on their clothing at all times.
8th May 1945- World War Two ends. Allied troops rescuse to remaining Jewish people from concentration camps.
The Holocaust
Even before Hitler's rise to power, hatred for the Jewish people was strong throughout Europe. Although Hitler set out to eliminate the Jewish people altogether. Adolf Hitler's disgust for the Jews came from the blame he placed on them for Germany's defeat in World War One. He also supported an idealistic' Aryan race; a population of white people with blonde hair and blue eyes. The majorirty of Jewish people had dark hair and brown eyes, lessening the chances of achieving an Aryan population.
Furthermore Hitler used his power in order to construct a massacre of the Jewish people.
